Total Transparency and Total Fiscal ResponsibilityBy Deanna "Dee" RichCandidate for Board Member; San Dieguito Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
District Meetings and Financial Reports are Public Information. I am a Fiscal Conservative. We have a very small and efficient administration. The District has saved local taxpayers millions of dollars by pursuing additional revenue sources. The San Dieguito Union High School Disrict publishes its financial reports. Our budgets are reviewed by the San Diego County Office of Education and reported to the State of California as legally mandated. The public can access our budgets at open meeetings or by looking on the District website(http://www.SDUHSD.net/)under Board Agendas. Any member of the public can review at no charge or copy at a nominal charge all budget pages by visiting the District Office. The San Dieguito School Board has saved the public millions by aggressively pursuing matching State construction funds to build our new high school, Canyon Crest Academy. Anyone can look online at the October 19, 2006 meeting, and see details of the general fund revenues and expenditures. It is clear to anyone reading our budget or attending a meeting that a combination of construction funds from the State Construction Bond Fund, Mello-Roos Funds, and local building funds were used to build Canyon Crest Academy. For 2004/2005 our Audited Accounts show that $47,800,000 was spent from construction funds not General Revenues to build Canyon Crest Academy and other smaller projects. The construction fund ended with a significant positive balance. The district did not overspend by that amount. Our meetings have been Paperless and Online for the last two years. The North County Times, on September 11, 2006 stated: "A rose to the Trustees of the San Dieguito District. Through conservative budgeting, the San Dieguito folks are holding costs down...other Districts should follow their lead." |
