A Builder of Community Coalitions District 6 has a diverse population with many needs. My varied experience will help me bring good schools and childcare, top jobs, quality healthcare, and better staffing for fire and police services to our city-while keeping tax contributions fair and equitable. Endorsed by a coalition of business, environmentalists, labor and city officials I will work for a kinder, gentler community where opinions are not judged by the color of ones skin or political preferance but by the desire to "raise the boat" of everyone in our community. We need more good jobs here. As a loan committee member at Camarillo Community Bank, I helped local businesses by providing financing for expansion-adding employment opportunities in the process. In Watsonville, I will work with the Chamber of Commerce and the City Council to provide incentives to recruit corporations, invest new capital, and grow jobs. At Pleasant Valley Hospital, I found ways to attract quality physicians to serve the community. Here, we're equally in need of innovative solutions to assure quality healthcare for our city. In eleven years as board chair for the San Juan Bautista Child Development Centers, we used state and foundation funding to open five new centers with first-rate care for children of low-income families. We can adopt a similar program that will enable us to expand local services to families in our community. Serving the community has been my life-long passion. I want to continue my work for the communities of Watsonville. |
