Raised as a toddler on Willow Street and currently a homeowner on Cherry Ave, Pierluigi Oliverio is "From Here For Us!" He attended neighborhood institutions like St. Christopher's Church, Booksin Elementary, Hoover Middle School, Willow Glen High School. He received mulitiple degrees from San Jose State University including a teaching credential. Pierluigi speaks Spanish and Italian,an asset that proved invaluable when he taught public school. Pierluigi Oliverio has always been a hard worker and is committed to the neighborhoods. His strong work ethic started as a boy with his 225 house paper route. He worked at Spoons Restaurant on Bascom and Hamilton during high school, college and graduate school, paying his own way through college. From the classroom to the boardroom, he has always brought energy and a detail oriented perspective to the job. For the last 11 years, he has been working in the semiconductor and software industry. As an education advocate, Pierluigi Oliverio managed the successful Library Measure E Campaign, which purchased books, magazines, computers and programs for children and seniors at all San Jose libraries, including the Rose Garden and Willow Glen libraries from 1995-2004. He has been involved in our community through the Willow Glen Neighborhood Association, Next Door Solutions Battered Women's Shelter, San Jose Anti-Litter Program, San Jose Downtown Association, Joint Venture Silicon Valley Council on Tax & Fiscal Policy, Neighborhood Tree Planting, as well as numerous business related groups. As a professional in the high tech sector, Pierluigi Oliverio has worked with large and small organizations. No matter the size of the company, he always has been successful. Today he works in the Software as a Service (SaaS) industry working with rapidly growing small and mid-size companies in Silicon Valley. His efforts allow these "up and coming" companies to introduce their products faster to the market while enabling them to be compliant with environmental and safety standards. Design for Environment (DFE) helps ensure that hazardous chemicals do not get designed into new products ensuring that when these products are disposed, they don't leak into our soil. This ensures the future of safe drinking water for all of us when our electronic products eventually end up in a landfill if they are not properly recycled. |
