How should the land beyond I-10 be developed?By James "Jim" WarlinCandidate for Council Member; City of Cathedral City | |

We have the opportunity of a lifetime when it comes to planning for the future of Cathedral City with the more than 4,600 acreas of land North of I-10. However, as one of your Cathedral City Planning Commissioners, I remind myself of some key factors: 1) Cathedral City owns none of this land. It's either privately owned property, or publicly owned by agencies other than "our city." 2) Cathedral City's General Plan outlines "proposed" uses, but it will take close cooperation between our city and current landowners working together for the maximum benefit of all involved, and 3) The city's Master Plan specifically details the amount of residential (currently around 500 homes may be built on this acerage), commercial business parks, industrial development and "open space" usage. Such allocations demand that we be "wise architects," and balance these uses in tune with today's and tomorrow's "needs" of our citizens. Lets' be GRAND and yet vigilant in painting this "pallet" so that the "picture" that evolves will hang proudly on the wall of generations yet to come.
