Economic Growth

By Linda Grebmeier

Candidate for Councilmember; City of King City

This information is provided by the candidate
The City needs to help local businesses grow and to bring in new businesses.
The health of the city can be quickly measured by the economy. Business grows or dies.

Along with a healthy economic development program, the city has to re-establish a positive environment towards the business community.

The City should help businesses grow and expand. We need to promote better paying jobs for our community, not just minimum wage.

The City needs to work with local business and developers to encourage new businesses to locate in King City. That said, we should look for new businesses that compliment and not compete with existing business.

Do the math. Creating a new business the puts a current one out of business, leave us with no net gain.

Many of our children leave town because they can not find good paying jobs or careers.

I can remember when King City was much smaller, but had a much larger business community. 25 years ago there were more and better stores, restaurants, and things to do.

The City should be helpful to business. It needs to be responsive and not resistant to change.
