Letter of support from Local ResidentsBy Terri WilliamsonCandidate for Member, City Council; City of Pleasant Hill | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Dear Friends and Neighbors, On November 7, you'll be voting for Pleasant Hill City Council members. We support Terri Williamson for re-election, and want to tell you why we hope you'll join us in supporting Terri. Most of us came to Pleasant Hill because we enjoy the large lots, the trees, neighborhood shopping, the library, the friendliness and tranquility. Keeping it that way has not been easy. We've often been threatened with massive over-development which could destroy the character of our neighborhoods. Terri's presence on City Council has allowed us to keep our neighborhoods and city pleasant. Terri jumped into politics when the old City Council was planning a downtown Pleasant Hill that would be just high-rise hotels and office buildings. She knew she was not alone in dreading such a result. She spearheaded Measure B to keep the downtown human in scale. After a long campaign, Measure B passed, limiting density and building height in Pleasant Hill. She then led the Redevelopment Agency to build the wonderful "small town" downtown that we enjoy so much today. But Measure B has expired and we need Terri on the Council to continue to speak out for neighborhood protections and height and density limits. As long as Terri has been on the Council she has always been a staunch advocate for careful growth and low density, preserving open space, and retaining and cultivating Pleasant Hill's small town charm. Her concern will always be the preservation of our lovely neighborhoods. We are now facing new issues that have the potential to change the face of our community.
Terri has lived in Pleasant Hill for 30 years and raised her two children here in our local schools. She knows our community better than most and cares about it deeply. Her reputation for thorough knowledge of the issues, for fairness, integrity, honesty and refusal to just give in to the expedient is richly deserved. Please join us in supporting Terri's run for re-election to the Pleasant Hill City Council. She wants to continue to serve you, to see things done right. If you want Pleasant Hill to remain pleasant, please cast your vote for Terri Williamson on November 7th. Karen Yapp - Heritage Hills Drive Marilyn Watson - Wedgewood Court |
