Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Stephen S. Tilton

Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of Pinole

This information is provided by the candidate

Although I have only lived in Pinole for two years, I am a proud home owner and love Pinole. It does not take a person who grew up here and went to all of Pinole's schools to see Pinole is facing severe quality of life issues. Actually, I think this is why some council members defend their positions and think that things are "ok" in Pinole. The residents of Pinole see things much differently and want change.

I believe we must focus our efforts on addressing the crime, grafitti, rampant speeding and quality of life issues which threaten Pinole's future.

We must attract beneficial businesses and jobs to Pinole. The number of business licenses taken out does not equate to what the residents want to see. The residents are tired of seeing empty shopping malls.

We must seek ways to expand our services to the seniors and youth of Pinole.

We must make our schools a top priority. Alleviate overcrowding, improve upon and maintain current safety measures, including keeping our two resource officers on campus. We must actively work with the school district to place building construction on a faster pace.

We must increase staffing levels in our Police and Fire Departments, so that they can continue to meet Pinole's growing Public Safety needs.

I will not accept a health benefits package if elected to City Council. This alone will save the city of Pinole thousands of dollars to be used for other city services.

I will promote reasonable term limits for city council members, so other members of our community will have a chance to serve the city. Two decades on city council is simply too long.

A vote for me means a move towards fresh ideas and new leadership, it will also place a member of law enforcement on Pinole City Council. It will mean change!
