Candidate Statement by Tom McCormick

By Tom McCormick

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Orinda

This information is provided by the candidate
I am running for City Council to bring new ideas to city government. I will work to maintain our unique town so it is fiscally sound and intelligently planned.

My legal and business background gives me the ability to understand financial budgets and priorities, and provides me complex problem solving and leadership skills to make informed decisions.

My ideas include:

Responsible fiscal planning to insure taxpayer's money is spent wisely.

Fix the roads and infrastructure through proper long range planning. This problem is only getting worse and needs to be a priority.

Partner with the schools in order to achieve maximum benefits for our schools so our children will have the greatest opportunities in the future.

Balance the interests of property owners so there is pride in ownership and better interaction in and with the City. I will work to make the design review process responsive to and supportive of citizens.

Revitalize the business areas by updating economic policies to attract and foster a healthy business climate so we have places to eat, shop and get services.

We have lived in Orinda for 11 years and have four children in Orinda schools. I have served on the Orinda Association and OBA Boards and volunteered for the Educational Foundation of Orinda and our schools.

As your city council member, I will be available, be a good listener, conduct thorough research and will work hard to make our great city even better. I would appreciate your support.
