Ron Leone for Concord City CouncilBy Ronald E. "Ron" LeoneCandidate for Member, City Council; City of Concord | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
If elected, I pledge to protect the interests of our neighborhoods, work hard to reduce crime, reduce traffic, and support responsible growth without raising taxes.I am a candidate for Concord City Council because I am concerned with the possible over-development of the Concord Naval Weapons Station's 5,170 acres. I have a lifelong commitment to our community. As a parent, I am aware of the many challenges in our city. Neighborhood crime, traffic on our streets and freeways, schools, growth, and especially the future development of the Concord Naval Weapons Station are all critical areas of focus. We have a unique opportunity with the closing of the Naval Weapons Station. We must balance new growth with traffic congestion, schools, jobs, parks, soccer fields, other needed facilities, and plenty of open space. The decisions that we make now will affect the lives of future generations. If elected, I pledge to protect the interests of our neighborhoods, work hard to reduce crime, reduce traffic, and support responsible growth without raising taxes. My qualifications and Education: · I was the Teacher of the Year in the San Ramon School District + 1995. · I taught Government, History and Law for 18 years. · I was a Little League Coach for all three of my children. ·For 16 years I have served as a Director of the Mt. Diablo Hospital Board. · I have been promoted to school district administrator for the last 12 years. · I have received a Certificates of Recognition from the California State Assembly and the City of San Ramon. · I've earned my Bachelor's Degree from San Francisco State University and Master's Degree from St. Mary's College. As director of the Mt. Diablo Hospital Board and chairman of the John Muir/Mt. Diablo Health System Board, I have kept my pledge to save millions of dollars through prudent fiscal management while delivering exceptional services, and keeping our Mt. Diablo Hospital vibrant and its Emergency Room open. My wife Maria and I have raised our three children in Concord. Like you, we care about our city.
