Sheila Grilli deserves re-election to the C.C. Community College Board

From her Candidate Statement sent to voters:

What does a Community College trustee do?

We ensure the fiscal health of the district; work with the faculty to ensure excellence of our academic programs; work with district administration and the faculty to encourage enrollment in our colleges and centers; work with the residents of Contra Costa County to pass bond measures that ensure our college facilities will meet the needs of current and future students.

In short, we serve to protect the public's investment in Contra Costa County's "crown jewel" of higher education, our community colleges.

During the eight years that I have served as your representative on the Governing Board, enrollment has increased by over 1,500 full-time students. We have successfully passed two capital facilities bond measures. We have added dozens of new courses, majors, degrees and certificate programs. We have upgraded our facilities to serve students tranferring to four-year colleges and those working in vocational certificate programs and to meet the needs of a changing workforce.

A lifelong resident of Contra Costa County, I attended Diablo Valley College and graduated from UC Berkeley. I taught at Alhambra and Clayton Valley High Schools and at Cal State Hayward. I believe that I have served you well as a trustee and ask for your vote so I may continue to make our "crown jewel" shine.
