Where is our BART? We have been paying for BART in Pittsburg, Antioch, Brentwood, Oakley and Bryon so where is it? We have no new extensions because the current administration is focusing all their energy on taking BART to San Jose and the Oakland Airport first. How can we take BART to the Oakland Airport or San Jose if we do not even have a station past the Pittsburg/Bay Point station. If I am elected bringing BART to East Contra Costa County will be my number one priority! I will direct BART staff to see to our needs first. I will find funding. I support Proposition 1B and if that passes a large windfall of money will become available for future BART extensions. I will fight to make sure east county extensions are the first projects to be considered. I support Transit Villages around future BART stations to generate land lease revenues to be used for additional extensions in east county. I will stand in line with my hand raised for matching Federal transportation dollars. I will explore if ballot initiatives can also raise some matching funds to assist in accelerating the time frame to bring BART to all east county cities so the voters can be heard that they want BART first here in east Contra Costa County. The talking part is over and it is time to take action. I will take that action when I'm elected.
