Candidate Statement

As Deputy City Clerk I perform the following responsibilities of the City Clerk which are clearly set by law: Council agenda process, minutes, City-wide records management, campaign and conflict of interest filings, and overseeing elections. The City Clerk must know and comply with laws and regulations such as the Political Reform, Public Records, Maddy and Brown Acts and the State Elections Code.

I am a Certified Municipal Clerk. I have the knowledge, education, dedication and hands-on experience to be an effective City Clerk. I diligently keep up with new legislation. I will strive to bring the City into the 21st Century technologically to allow the public more access to their government. As Deputy City Clerk I have instituted recodification of the Municipal Code, a paperless agenda management process, on-line agenda access, and arranged live webcasting of City Council meetings.

I'm an active member of: International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC); City Clerks Association of California (CCAC); Northern California City Clerks Association, California Association of Clerks and Elections Officials, Mt. Diablo Chapter of ARMA International. I obtained Certified Municipal Clerk status through IIMC and I'm presently in the Master Municipal Clerk Academy. I'm also a Professional Development Mentor in the CCAC.

As a 27-year resident I believe the City of Pittsburg is deserving of a full time City Clerk. I would be honored to serve you in that capacity.
