Greg Enholm's Candidate Statement gives his reasons for wanting to be elected to the Community College Governing Board.

My age is 52 years old.

My occupation is high school math teacher.

Of Contra Costa Community College Governing Board members elected 2000-2002, one lost re-election (Reyes), two resigned or didn't run (Girard, MacDiarmid). They have let CCCCD decline to where it eliminated classes, threatened to layoff all faculty, reduced staff pay 5%+, and caused staff and student morale to plunge.

Contra Costa Community College District Governing Board has correctly identified recreating financial health, increasing enrollment, and restoring morale as priorities. I am fully qualified to achieve these goals. For twenty years, I was a financial analyst so I can monitor CCCCD's complicated budget. As an elected local park board member for four years, I know how to work with other Board members and staff.

Now, as a high school teacher for eight years, I've taken Los Medanos College courses; my students go to CCCCD's colleges. I know the critical need to rebuild productive relationships with CCCCD's employees.

My priorities will be:

1) Watch carefully to assure fiscal responsibility and accountability;

2) Visit high schools to learn how to have more students attend CCCCD's colleges. Visit city councils and others explaining CCCCD's message to build support for CCCCD;

3) Work with Board members and staff to learn from CCCCD's competition: Heald College, Silicon Valley College, Western Career College, etc.

I ask you to vote for me to represent you on the Contra Costa Community College Distict Governing Board.
