Leslie Baranco Martin has served on the Stockton City Council since 2001.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1984. As an engineer, Leslie spent six years with Hewlett + Packard leading projects in the departments of manufacturing, research and design, and marketing.

She then went on to earn a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California's prestigious Hastings College of the Law.

Upon graduation, Leslie and her family moved to Stockton where she has been employed as a Deputy District Attorney for San Joaquin County for the past seven years and is responsible for prosecuting criminal cases involving welfare fraud, code enforcement and other felonies.

In 2001, Leslie was appointed to the Stockton City Council where she has provided leadership in revitalizing Stockton's downtown area. In addition, she has also earned the respect of her peers for her strong supporter of local law enforcement.

Leslie currently serves as chair of the Legislative and Environmental committee, as a member of the Community Improvement and Crime Prevention committee, the Kentfield/Bianchi Action Team, Community Planning/Development Committee, Lincoln Unified School District's 2x2 Committee and as an alternate member on the Audit and Affordable Housing Committees.

She also serves as Assemblywoman Barbara Matthew Legislative Liaison of the League of California Cities. Leslie is on the Board of Directors of the Mary Graham Shelter Foundation and Advisor for Habitat for Humanity of San Joaquin County. She is a member of The Links, Inc., Jack and Jill of America and the San Joaquin County Bar Association, and the Downtown Stockton Rotary.

Leslie was overwhelmingly elected in 2002 receiving over 63% in a three candidate primary and over 65% in the citywide general.

Leslie and her husband, Douglas, have been married for 19 years. They have two children Gabrielle, 15; and Matthew, 17.
