DENNIS M. LOBENBERG Age: 55 Occupation: California Highway Patrol Chief

My education and qualifications are: During my 31 year career with the California Highway Patrol, I worked my way up from Patrolman to Stockton Commander, Assistant Chief for Northern California, and finally CHP Chief, overseeing statewide enforcement operations. As a Stockton native, I would be honored to serve as San Joaquin Countyís Sheriff.

The Sheriff has two jobs ñ protect you and respect your money. Iíll do the first job by following 3 rules: honor the badge I wear, respect the brave men and women in my command, and then, quite simply, go after the bad guys. The second part of the job involves your money. The Sheriff must manage the Department. As CHP Chief, I directed 10,000 employees and officers who made over 12,000 felony arrests per year.

I have the support of Senator Mike Machado, Mayor Ed Chavez, Assemblywoman Barbara Mathews, former Mayor Gary Podesto, and former Senator Patrick Johnston ñ five people who put public service ahead of political parties.

My wife Angela and I have been married for 32 years, raised four children and have six grandchildren. We are active in St. Joachim Catholic Church. I want to thank my neighbors, friends, and fellow officers for helping me put my name on the ballot.

Mi educación y calificaciones son: A lo largo de mi carrera de 31 años con la Patrulla de Caminos de California, fui ascendido desde Patrullero hasta Comandante de Stockton, Jefe Auxiliar para el Norte de California, y finalmente hasta Jefe de la Patrulla de Caminos de California, encargado de supervisar las operaciones de intervención en todo el estado. Como nativo de Stockton, sería un honor desempeñarme como Alguacil del Condado de San Joaquín.

El Alguacil tiene dos trabajos ñ proteger a usted y respetar su dinero. Para cumplir con el primero, seguiré 3 reglas: honraré la placa que lleve, respetaré a los valientes hombres y mujeres que estén bajo mi cargo, y luego, muy sencillamente, perseguiré a los criminales. El segundo elemento del trabajo tiene que ver con su dinero. El Alguacil tiene que administrar el Departamento. Como Jefe de la CHP, administré a más de 10,000 empleados y agentes que efectuaron más de 12,000 detenciones por delitos graves por año.
