Questions & Answers

1. What would you do to increase the number of voters registered in your party?

I organize, staff and participate in voter registration and information tabling at numerous fairs and festivals in Santa Clara County, as well as at monthly New Citizen Swear-in Ceremonies held at Campbell Community Center. I also walk my own precinct in Campbell and provide walk literature and training to walking recruits. I host monthly Meetups, both for the Democratic Party and for Democracy For America, to help connect new and returning Democrats with clubs, events, and volunteer opportunities.

2. What would you do to help the campaigns of candidates of your party?

I use my internet connections to spread the word about Party endorsed candidates, promote their literature at public events, and persuasively advocate for them at every opportunity. I also post candidate events on the Santa Clara County Democratic Party event calendar, and contribute to the newsletter.

I stay informed about the political scene locally, statewide and nationally by attending as many Democratic Party events as possible, including the monthly Central Committee, Executive Board and Century Club meetings, and the State Democratic Party Convention, as well as by following numerous internet information sources.

Besides a willingness to work hard, qualities that I can contribute are a level head, good judgment and an ability to work effectively with people of varying viewpoints.

3. Why did you become a member of this political party?

I'm a life-long Democrat, but I'd never taken part in politics except to vote until I was inspired by Howard Dean's presidential bid in 2003. His campaign showed me that being a good Democrat means doing more than voting the right way. I had a duty to get off the sidelines and become active to help bring about positive changes in my country and my community. Thankfully, our local Dem Party is very welcoming to grassroots volunteers and my positive experience during the 2004 campaign and since makes we want to do more.

This short video illustrates what I believe it means to be a Democrat and the ideals that make our efforts worthwhile: http://www.democrats.org/ourparty.html (click on "America's Party" video)
