Marie White is a scientist and business owner active in the local Democratic party. She serves as co-chair of the Information Technology committee of the Monterey County Democratic Central Committee, she is a precinct captain, and was a proxy delegate to the California Democratic Party Convention in 2005 and 2006. During the 2004 Presidential election, she traveled to Colorado to work on Get Out the Vote efforts, and she likes to believe that she was a small part of the Colorado Democratic party regaining control of the Assembly for the first time in 30 years and electing Democrats to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Marie was raised in Pennsylvania and Tennessee. She studied Biology at Westminster College and then earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Oceanography at Texas A&M University. She was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, where she researched the impact of climate variability and climate change on biological oceanography. After two years as a senior project scientist at an environmental consulting firm, Marie co-founded Pangaea in 1994. Pangaea consults with the federal government and other clients on Information Technology and Information Security. In 1998, the Small Business Administration awarded Pangaea the Administrator's Award of Excellence.

Marie has been working with the Monterey County Democratic Central Committee to build a unified, organized, and effective Democratic party. There is a growing threat that California may soon turn red, including Monterey County. Although two thirds of the registered voters in Monterey County are Democrats, Republicans now hold more than half of the elected offices. By building a strong Democratic Party, we will be able to elect Democrats to office who will support our shared values of honest leadership, security at home and abroad, economic prosperity, educational excellence, affordable healthcare, and a healthy environment. Marie's experience in science, technology, and business has given her the ability to set objectives, manage for results, and work effectively with people. She is an environmentalist, women's rights advocate and is deeply committed to Democratic values.

Marie has been happily married for 14 years and shares a love of the outdoors, bicycling, and travel with her husband. She enjoys photography, with a special interest in wildlife photography. When at home, she tends her organic vegetable and flower gardens.
