Dear Community Members:

In 28 years, I have served as a Teacher, College Instructor, Program Improvement Director, Federal Reviewer, State Consultant, and worked for 3 county superintendents.

For the last 8 years here in Montrey County, I have served as the County's Head Start Administrator providing the early learning needs of thousands of children ages birth to five. I have promoted family literacy and parent leadership through programs like "Dad's In Action" and "Parent Mentors." Through partnerships and with millions of grant dollars, I have established services for working families, supported higher degrees for teachers, created parent leadership programs and made schools and playgrounds safe for children. I have received awards such as "State Consultant of the Year" and Hartnell's "Champion for Children."

My vision as County Superintendent of Schools is to promote early literacy, parent leadership and increased graduation rates. I will accomplish this by working with parents and school and community leaders to effectively plan and deliver county resources, by targeting services to students' needs and through effective fiscal and standards accountability systems.

As a father of three elementary school-aged children, I understand how important it is to support my children's education and be involved as a family in their school career. Parental involvement has such a positive impact on the outcome of a child's education and their social and academic development.

My educational qualifications include: BA in Liberal Studies from CSU Fresno, Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential for Pre-k to Adult, Bilingual Specialist Credential, Community College Professional Education Credential, Masters in Educational Adminstration and Supervision and Professional Administrative Services Credential.

Please join me to establish new educational leadership for children and the school community. I would appreciate your vote and look forward to working with you. http://www.rtellez.net
