Dear Voter,

As County Associate Superintendent of Schools for 14 years, I have embraced the challenge of achieving educational excellence for all of Monterey County's 77,000 students. Dr. Bill Barr's distinguished administration as County Superintendent of Schools has established a clear course of accountability and continuous improvement for education in Monterey County. As Dr. Barr retires, proven leadership is now needed to bring Monterey County education to the next level of excellence.

As I see the continuous improvement our schools are making each year, I become more encouraged, enthusiastic, and challenged. We want more for our students as we look to the future. I want to provide the County with the educational leadership needed to reach for new horizons in student preparation for the future that Monterey County deserves.

There are four pillars of my vision for the future of education for our students: Fiscal accountability, highly qualified teachers, student achievement, and student safety and health.

Our youth are our greatest resource and hope for the future. Dedicated and capable educational leadership in the County is needed to support schools in preparing our students today for the changing world.

I thank you for your support.
