Ray is a 25-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and is currently Captain of the Pitchess Detention Center - North Facility. As a Captain he has also been in charge of other key positions within the Department such as all Superior Court Courthouses from Long Beach to Antelope Valley, Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau and Men's Central Jail and Pitchess Detention Center - North facility. He has been in command of a total of approximately 700 Departmental personnel (Sworn and Civilian) at one time. Even before he was promoted to Captain in 1999, he had been assigned to numerous Stations across the County in many capacities and has a solid knowledge of the 4000+ sq. mile area of the County of Los Angeles. He understands the needs, environment, and resources of the County and with his training and proven experience is most able to handle the position of Sheriff of Los Angeles County. Ray holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Calif. State University, Los Angeles. Ray was a long time resident of San Fernando before moving to Chatsworth, where he now resides with his wife and two children. Ray enjoys traveling, scuba diving, officiating high school football games, reading and golf.
