Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Paul Morgan Fredrix

Candidate for
Member, Republican Party County Central Committee; County of Los Angeles; Assembly District 42

This information is provided by the candidate

The Central Committee candidates are listed at the very end of your partisan ballot, and very few people know what we are supposed to do. Let's remedy that.

Essentially the County Central Committee is the legal party. It consists of 7 members from each assembly district in the county, and all the party nominees who reside in the county. The 7 who are elected from our 42nd Assembly District, and the GOP candidates who reside here, make up our 42nd AD Committee. (Thus, Governor Schwarzenegger, who lives in this district, is officially a member of our 42nd AD committee. Obviously we don't expect him to attend the meetings, but you are welcome to. E-mail me at pfredrix@mailstation.com and I'll put you on the list.)

The central committee's job is to organize the party to help our candidates win elections. We are not the people who decide how the party stands on various issues - that's your responsibility, which you exercise by choosing the candidates who reflect your views. Our job is to register Republican voters and help them vote, facilitate volunteer activities, and help candidates to get their messages out to you - in short, to build the GOP.

I currently serve as chair of our district committee. If re-elected to the committee, I plan to build a precinct organization that will reach out to every voter in our district. Even though we are supposed to be a "safe" Democrat district, I want to achieve a competitive position in this AD for the Republican Party by 2010.

We need the asistance of anyone who is willing to help. If you'd like to be part of the rebuilding of our party in your neighborhood, call me at (310) 659-2144 or e-mail me.

And of course, I need your vote to secure a place on the committee. I will do my best to be worthy of your support.
