Making Long Beach the most environmentally responsible city in California

By Frank Colonna

Candidate for Mayor; City of Long Beach

This information is provided by the candidate
I will create a new Energy Conservation Commission that will be charged with protecting our most valuable resources and making Long Beach a sustainable city.
As our city's former Director of Environmental Health, I helped create a better quality of life by working with State and other local officials to reduce pollution to our air, rivers and beaches.

As Chair of the Rivers and Mountains Conservancy and a member of our city council, I have fought to protect and preserve our parks and open spaces for future generations.

I also strongly oppose the installation of a Liquefied Natural Gas facility at our port, a plan that poses very real threats to our environment and our citizens, and have urged my fellow candidates to join me by stating their opposition in writing.

On the City Council, I also co-sponsored an initiative that will encourage the conversion of our city fleet to hybrids and other energy-efficient vehicles.

As your next Mayor, I will implement an aggressive conservation agenda that includes a Green City Energy Policy using solar technology and alternate fuel sources as well as create the city's first Energy and Conservation Commission.
