About Bill Morrow

Bill Morrow is a Ronald Reagan conservative in every sense of the word. Bill's leadership in the California Legislature proves his commitment to lower taxes and smaller government, his dedication to conservative moral values, his battle to create economic opportunity for working families, and his tough-on-crime attitude honed by his tenure as a Marine Prosecutor at Camp Pendleton.

Born and raised in Southern California, Bill Morrow was elected the Student Body President of his class at Mt. San Antonio College. Mr. Morrow went on to graduate from UCLA with honors, and to receive his Juris Doctorate from the Pepperdine School of Law. Bill was recruited by the United States Marine Corps where, for eight years, he served with distinction as a commissioned officer and military judge advocate. As the Chief Trial Counsel and prosecutor at Camp Pendleton, Bill prosecuted cases against crime, waste and corruption in the military. Captain Morrow left active duty with the USMC in 1987 and entered the private sector as a small business attorney.

In these difficult times, we need proven conservative leaders like Bill Morrow in Congress to restore our faith in government and to protect us against the liberals who have rejected the reforms we fought for.

A lifelong conservative, Bill Morrow has fought to limit government spending and to protect taxpayers. Throughout his legislative career, Senator Morrow has honored his original pledge to vote against all new taxes. First elected to the Assembly in 1992, Bill has been re-elected by his North County neighbors each time he has stood for election since. Morrow was elected to the State Senate in 1998 and asked to return by the voters again in 2002.

Serving as the long-time Vice-Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and as Chairman of the Assembly Judiciary Committee while Assembly Republicans held the majority, Morrow has been the point person time after time in the fight against frivolous lawsuits. He made a name for himself by focusing attention on the senseless delays in the appeals process for murderers sentenced to death for their crimes. He has successfully introduced and passed legislation to expedite punishment phases.

Morrow has been a leader in reforming our education system. He has fought tirelessly against the liberals and the Los Angeles Unified School district for school equalization funding which resulted in more than $5.2 million being returned to smaller education districts in his Senate District. This legislation was introduced at the request of the Capistrano School District, but other low-wealth school districts throughout the state also benefited from this legislation. In October 2001, the San Diego County Board of Education honored him for his exceptional leadership in school equalization, class size reduction and for helping to establish the successful charter school movement in San Diego.

The Senate recognized his Marine Corp service and appointed him Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veteran's Affairs. He has carried a variety of bills helping veterans, active duty and reserve military personnel, and service families. He is a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He has been privileged to be the keynote speaker on four occasions at the Veteran's Loyalty Day Celebration in San Clemente.

Bill is an active member of our community by helping local organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs, Chambers of Commerce, Kiwanis Clubs, YMCA, and Laura's House.
