Questions & Answers

1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)

Critical and creative thinking skills are my forte. I am a detail oriented problem solver. This usually requires thinking out of the box for new solutions. I have had experience working with budgets including serving on allocation and finance committees. My human relations skills were honed while working for a newspaper.

2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

I would like to gather a task force of individuals from our village. Residents in Amberley Village are well educated and include many professors, physicans, lawyers, contractors, businessmen, and capable volunteers. Our community needs to use this expertise to help the surrounding communities with better schools, rental of vacant property and beautification. Improving the periphery would aid my plan of developing currently zoned business areas. It would function to bring in additional earning tax dollars and eventually eliminate the budget deficit.

3. What steps would you take to ensure that all public facilities are accessible to people with disabilities? (100 words limit)

In Amberley Village, transportation and services for the handicapped is a more relevant issue than accessibility to public facilities.

To answer the specific question above , the first step would be to do an assessment of all public facilities. The second step would be to provide the report to the facility and ask for voluntary compliance. If ,after a reasonable amount of time, reinspection indicates that compliance has not occurred, then fines should be levied. Finally, the organization should be closed until compliance is instituted.

4. What specific steps will you take to expand recycling services in your community? (100 words limit)

I would discuss with Rumpke the possibility of providing recycle bins that could beon wheels , thus making it easier to to bring the recycling bins to the street for pickup. Publishing articles about recycling in The Amberley newsletter might stimulate interest. For example, the Rumpke employees might have interesting stories to tell about how many newspapers get recyled in our community. Additionally, more recycling would take place if recycling bins could also be picked up where the garbaage is picked up. This is not the case when garbage is picked up in garages. Finally, Rumpke needs to replace recyle bins promptly when needed.

5. What steps would you take to provide affordable housing for all residents of your community? (100 words limit)

Amberley currently consists of a wide range of single family housing options. In the past, zoning changes for cluster homes have been turned down. However, many retirees continue to request smaller homes that are maintained. I would like to see some homes built on the Crest Hills property that would appeal to these residents.
