"Every Student Must Succeed"By Harriet RussellCandidate for Board Member; Cincinnati City School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The goal of the Board of Education should be that every student must succeed. All energy and resources of the Board must be focused on that goal. The operating budget of the Cincinnati Public Schools as presented by the Superintendent and as developed by the Budget Commission convened by the Superintendent and the Treasurer should be focused on the goal that every student must succeed. Focusing operating dollars must be supported by district and community collaboration. This collaboration must occur throughout the district to improve the effectiveness of community support for every student. Cincinnati Public Schools is just beginning this process with the needs assessment by the school-community planning teams with each facilities project. The Board needs to increase this community engagement so that even before a new or renovated community learning center is operational that the community services and support for our students to succeed becomes more effective. Making schools centers of the community by developing and increasing partnerships identified by the school-community panning and development tams is essential to supporting student success. This effort and leadership by the Board of Education is necessary for student success and for the future vitality of the communities in the Cincinnati School District. |
