Domestic Preparedness

Our community needs to be prepared to respond to any unforeseen situation that may arise.
Domestic preparedness must begin at the grass roots level of our society. Today's world has shown various situations that force communities to react in diverse ways. Communities such as ours must be prepared to react swiftly and efficiently to any situation that may arise be it natural disasters or some other force. With events that have occurred such as the most recent tragedy in New Orleans, demonstrates the need for contingency plans to be in place before the fact. Planning is what will allow for the success of a community response. There is no community equipped to deal with a condition such as that particular hurricane by themselves. Planning ahead and actual simulations before the fact helps to develop people in knowing where to turn when the crisis is real and directly in front of them.


Domestic preparedness means also the types of incidents that come up in the everyday world such as accidents on our roads and highways or in the commercial or industrial environment. Emergency responders need to be fully prepared for these events. It is a task that the leaders of the community who are charged with the responsibility of providing the emergency responders with training and equipment.


My experience in the Fire Service has enabled me to deal with these types of situations. I have been a part of the fire service for over 29 years and have been in all phases of management of these organizations. I have personally dealt with emergency response as well as day to day operations. Contingency planning is one of many portions of response modes that I specialized in.


I have a great deal to offer with my experience and knowledge. I can be of great assistance to all of our emergency responders and be their provider in every way possible. Domestic preparedness starts at this level and is the foudation of all levels above it.
