1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)
Member Deer Park Board of Education since 1992. Serves as Chair of the Curriculum Committee and Co-Chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. Resident of Sycamore township for 30 years. Facilities/Project Manager for DeBra-Kuempel. Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from University of Cincinnati. Two daughters attended and graduated from Deer Park Schools.
2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)
Quality education - continue to improve performance in state measurements, continue to strengthen curriculum and course offerings, continue raising graduation rates and individual student success. Fiscal responsibility - maintain tight fiscal controls on all aspects of spending, establish an oversight committee of local leaders to confirm spending and bidding activities, continue to obtain non-tax funding for programs, implement cost-saving measures as they develop. Maintain educational facilities - continue to develop and monitor the long term and 5 year capital improvement plans, begin long range planning for rehabilitating or replacing existing school buildings.
3. What will you do as a Board of Education member to increase parental involvement in your school system? (100 word limit)
Our Primary buildings have both been recognized for their parental involvement. We want to extend that participation to all levels within our district. This can be accomplished by coordinating volunteer efforts for the remainder of our buildings to assist the classroom teachers in task development and volunteer scheduling. Additionally volunteers at the building level would be able to help with building-wide programs in a way that is meaningful for the entire student population.
