I am running for the School Board of the San Bruno Park Elementary School District. I believe in excellence in public education and raising the bar so that students will be successful in today's world. Candidate Biography: Name: James R. Prescott Age: 62 Occupation: Retired Teacher/Businessman/Volunteer Education: Business Degree from USF in Organizational Behavior and Teaching Credential from Saint Mary's College Qualifications: I care about San Bruno and its schools. I am a parent of grown children who were educated in the San Bruno Park Elementary School District. Now I am a grandparent of students in this same district. As a retired teacher, who has taught in the San Bruno schools and as a volunteer in these schools, I am committed to helping the students, parents and schools succeed. I am a past PTA President of Crestmoor Elementary and a past member of John Muir School Site Council. I believe in the complete education of the child. This should include academics, physical ed, the arts and social skills development. I have been active in our community, as a CleanSweep volunteer, as a past president of our homeowners association, as president of STOP 380, which helped in stopping the extension of the Freeway to the coast. I am a current board member of San Bruno's Citizens Crime Prevention Committee. As a businessman and Certified Quality Analyst I spent many years endeavoring to improve work group performance. I believe in empowering students and schools to be successful. |
