Smart Voter Political Philosophy for James H. "Jim" Hartnett

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Redwood City; 4 Year Term

This information is provided by the candidate

My focus is on quality of life issues and fiscal responsibility. We need to protect our neighborhoods, preserve open space, create infill housing development downtown, maintain and create more parks and playing fields, insure that we have the best quality public and private schools, and create the best environment possible for people to live, work and enjoy our community.

I created the partnerships that resulted in new soccer and baseball fields at Pacific Shores Center, Garfield School, Taft School, Fair Oaks School and St. Anthony's Church.

I listened to the community and was part of the team effort that has lead to new and better parks at Stalstaff Park, Stafford Park and others, and created a solution to the Friendly Acres flooding.

I was part of the team that enacted new fiscal policies that established budget reserves that have helped protect city services in the tough economic times.

Mayor Jeff Ira and I led the effort to restore County funding for our County-City Crime Supression Team, increased city funding to double our gang suppression efforts, and add additional police officers.

I was part of the team that helped create the Sandpiper School and Community Center, created new child care, and will establish a new branch library in Redwood Shores.
