Short Term Goals

By William W. Dyer

Candidate for Trustee; Oakdale Joint Unified School District; Trustee Area 2

This information is provided by the candidate
I believe that the district needs to continue their effort to provide educational opportunities for all students to excel in their career choice. Some careers require a college education, while others need community college or trade school training, yet still others use on the job training. All students need an equal opportunities to succeed.

I believe that collaboration within agencies need to be continuously improved upon. Schools, municipalities, county agencies and other groups who have access to public or private funding, need to work toward the common goal I believe that: giving our youth the best possible opportunities to succeed. After school and evening activities improve education and reduce delinquency.

I believe that Oakdale is increasing its housing market and the school age population continues to expand. Our elementary school enrollment, with the addition of our new Sierra View School, currently is being served by a traditional school schedule. We need to continue exploring the expansion of the elementary capacity, and be watchful of our Jr and Sr. High projected enrollment. We will also continue modernization projects for all the schools to upgrade them to current standards.
