Statement of Susan McGhie, Candidate for Governing Board Member, Cupertino Union SDStatement of Susan McGhie, Candidate for Governing Board Member, Cupertino Union SD Occupation: Educator / Businesswoman / Former Engineer Age: 42 Education and Qualifications: B.S. Information Management Brigham Young University. Retired En-gineer, IBM ROLM Systems and Siemens. Classroom Teacher. PTA Volunteer of the Year. Endorsed by our Teachers (Cupertino Education Associa-tion). Extensive Experience on District Committees and Task Forces for Facilities, Technology, Attendance Boundaries, and Gifted and Talented Education. School Site Council Chair: Eisenhower and Hyde Middle Schools. Coached many youth athletic teams. VTA and UCCE Master Gar-dener (10 yrs) Volunteer. Married with four children in public schools. Over the years, I have spent thousands of hours working with and on behalf of the children and young people in our community. I am commit-ted to public service and creating outstanding educational opportunities for the children in our schools. I bring a wealth of experience as a business professional, teacher, volunteer, and CUSD/FUHSD parent. My priorities are 1) to ensure accountability of the taxpayers' money 2) to inform community of meetings via television, internet, or district e-mail updates 3) to create a positive climate of mutual re-spect between the administration and teachers 4) to create a "Code of Ethics and Values" for the school board and staff.
