PERSONAL Married to Roksana Ghaffary for 31 years. She works as a service coordinator at San Andreas Regional center in the Early Start program and is a member of SEIU. She holds a MS in education from USC and a MA in counseling psychology. They have two children. Michael is twenty four years old and has one more year to get his JD/MBA from Harvard Business/Law schools. He holds a BS in computer science and BA in political science as a Renaissance Scholar from USC. Their daughter Shirin is thirteen years old and is graduating from Peterson middle school this summer. EDUCATION Master of Science in Structural Mechanics, University of Southern California, September 1979. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, University of Southern California, September 1977. Completed one year of graduate studies in Urban Planning and Architecture at Southern California Institute of Architecture. WORK EXPERIENCE Registered Civil Engineer, State of California, since 1981. Sales Manager, Northern California Division, California Green Designs Inc. Sunnyvale, California. February 2005 to present. Senior Software Engineer, Design Power Inc. Cupertino, California. May 2000 to February 2005. Summary - Sixteen years in programming and management of CAD/CAE software. Eight years of experience in design and analysis of Petrochemical, Nuclear, and industrial structures. COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES Chairman, Board of Building Code Appeals, City of Sunnyvale, California. Member, American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Faculty - 1981 to 2002 (part-time); University of Southern California California State University, Long Beach California State Polytechnic University, Pomona Subjects: Computer Aided Engineering, Numerical Methods and Computer Applications, Computer-Aided Analysis of Structures, FORTRAN and Statics.
