Political Philosophy for Val Carpenter

I'm running for city council to keep Los Altos the great place to live and raise a family that my own family has enjoyed for over 14 years. As a current Planning Commissioner, former Historical Commission Chair and community volunteer, I've worked effectively with city council and staff for nearly 5 years. I have demonstrated my leadership, integrity and commitment to addressing the complex issues our city faces. I'll work to manage finances conservatively, with balanced budgets and sufficient emergency reserves; maintain the character of our residential neighborhoods; improve public safety and calm traffic; support community resources like a public swim facility; and promote vibrant business districts with convenient parking. As a mother who raised her children here, I understand the needs of families for outstanding schools, safe streets, nearby parks, and recreational programs for all ages. As a Stanford MBA and owner of a small business based in town, I place a high priority on sound fiscal policies and a strong local economy. I listen thoughtfully, carefully consider all views, and propose solutions that work for the entire community. I have the time, experience and skills to be an effective councilwoman, and respectfully ask for your vote. |
