Raj Abhyanker and his family (wife Sonal, daughter Indira) live in Cupertino. Raj was born in the Bay Area. Raj is very active in free community legal aid in the Bay Area for a variety of issues affecting immigrant East Indian, Taiwanese, Chinese, and other families.

Raj moved to the Cupertino/Sunnyvale area from Phoenix, Arizona about 6 years ago with no money and tens of thousands of dollars in student loans. He has been a tenant and a homeowner in Cupertino.

Professionally and academically, Raj has been extremely successful.

Raj was the Director of Supply Chain for Juniper Networks, Inc. (JNPR) in Sunnyvale, CA, one of the most successful venture-backed companies in history. Raj holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering w/honors (BSEE), a MBA, and a Doctorate in Law (J.D.) degree from Arizona State University. Currently, Raj manages his own patent law firm, and in the past has represented legal issues on behalf of many Silicon Valley companies including Apple Computer, Inc., eBay, Adobe Systems, and numerous startups.

Raj understands what it takes to work long hours in a hi-tech company, just so his child can have an opportunity to go to the finest schools in the country. Raj understands what it is to be an attorney and defend the interests of immigrants and those with the least voice in our community. Raj understands what it is like to take risks, and to be successful.

In summary, Raj understands what it is like to be someone like you, your children, and your neighbors. If elected, he will serve you honorably, and with the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and cultural responsibility.
