Candidate for
Council Member; City of Palm Springs

I am the Former Palm Springs City Clerk. I worked for the City of Palm Springs for 18 years and retired in November, 2004. I am married to Jim Shiner, retired Captain for the Palm Springs Fire Department for 24 years. There are two children, Chris, 30, who works for Desert Water Agency and is married to Leeah (Pelton), with one daughter, Katelynn, 8 and Will, 23, who graduated this June from the United States Air Force Academy and is now a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.

Twenty years ago I was a single mother in Palm Springs working as a Clerical Assistant for the City of Palm Springs. The people of this Community were a life line of support. Through hard work, personal sacrifice and the belief in this great City, I succeeded.

In my role as City Clerk, I moved the office of the Clerk into the new millennium by scanning documents for quick storage and easy retrieval, had an open web site created for the posting of agendas and was the first Clerk in the County to be able to marry people at City Hall.

Then I retired last November. But within several months, I decided to be your next City Council Woman and have been working diligently on that goal.
