"Highly Qualified" Teacher RetentionBy William "Bill" HulstromCandidate for Board Member; Perris Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
"Highly Qualified teachers are leaving Perris for other districtsWhile the Perris Union High School District sits on double-digit money ($10.5 million reserve out of a $56.6 million budget) reserves, it has been losing "highly qualified" teachers. The latest information on trends for average years in a district and the average years in teaching for teachers in a district show Perris dropping while near by districts are raising. The trends of percent of first and second year teachers in a district are going up in Perris but going down in near by districts. Basically this indicates that "highly qualified teachers are leaving Perris for other districts. The District is growing very rapidly and must raise salaries to attract and keep "highly qualified" staff members. |
