|
Jennifer Treppa and her husband, Jim Treppa, have two children attending elementary school in Novato. Jennifer has been active in her school community since her eldest son started kindergarten. She has been on the site Leadership Team for four years and is currently acting as Chairperson. Jennifer is an active PTA member and has been recognized by the California Parent Teacher Association with a Continuing Service Award. Jennifer is a recognized community leader and education advocate. Recently, Jennifer served as a Precinct Captain for Measure A, Novato's current parcel tax that was approved by an overwhelming majority of Novato voters in March 2005. As chairperson of School Fuel's Community Volunteer Program, Jennifer, in collaboration with Marin County School Volunteers, has been instrumental in developing the program that screens, trains and places volunteers in Novato's Public Schools. In addition to her volunteer service, Jennifer has worked for the last two years as a Title I Instructional Aide in a Novato elementary school. Through this experience Jennifer has gained a unique understanding of the daily challenges facing our teachers as resources dwindle as well as the obstacles our "at risk" learners must overcome. Working in the classroom has given Jennifer a hands-on understanding of how unique each learner is and how critical it is to support our teachers. Jennifer has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Davis and received her law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law. Before becoming a mother and moving to Novato, Jennifer practiced law in San Francisco, advocating for clients on a range of issues like employment disputes, construction defects and civil rights violations. |
