Jeff Kellogg Candidate for: Shoreline Unified School District Board of Trustees My name is Jeff Kellogg. I have lived in Inverness for 15 years. I am married to Anne Kellogg and our daughter Raini is attending second grade at West Marin School. I am running for our local school board because I truly believe in the power and potential of our public schools.

Some of my thoughts are:

  • It's all about the students. I believe that every decision and action we take as a board must use this belief as a guide.

  • Shoreline Unified School District has been building excellent programs that address the needs of our students. I want to see these programs continue and expand.

  • Our diverse student population is one of the strengths of Shoreline Schools. This diversity reflects our world and the future our students face.

  • We all share the responsibility of insuring that our children receive the best education, as well as preparing them for as many potential career options as possible.

  • Learning can also take place outside of the classroom, and we should encourage programs that give students real-life learning opportunities. Our local communities have many things to contribute to our schools. We need to continue to look for ways to involve community members in our schools.

  • I believe that our district employs talented and bright people who are excited about their jobs. We need to support them and trust them to do their jobs. Equally important is the need to insure accountability, and to continue to attract high-caliber people.

  • If we are required to test our students, then we need to support test preparation so they can perform well.

  • I believe that an effective board member will act as a steward of the district's resources, and make prudent financial decisions that will protect the district now and in the future. My experience as a small business owner has given me experience in making these types of decisions.
