Maintaining Our Small Town Character

By Peter A. Breen

Candidate for Member, Town Council; Town of San Anselmo

This information is provided by the candidate
While San Anselmo is surrounded and impacted by the "outside world" we do not have to lose what makes our town what it is today.
San Anselmo is known for our "small town" charm. Everybody......well most everybody, likes to walk down the "avenue", stop at the bakery, pick up a book, listen to good music, say "hi !" to the Mayor, rest on a bench, sit on the Town Hall deer, watch the owls at nite, send our kids to great schools, be close to work, eat at truly fine restaurants..

These are some of the things that make our town truly a "small town".....a town that everybody really loves, speaks about, and even at times writes about. You might ask, "Is the small town character at risk??"

I am pleased to assure you that San Anselmo is not at any risk of losing what we all like best.....We have a history, and best of all, we have a Town Council and a Town staff that are committed to maintain what is best about our town.

There will always be those few who want to have a handy "big box" store or a personal "in your face" feature that would make our town like the San Fernando Valley. They won't be able to make it happen. Just come on down to any Planning Commission or Quality of Life or Open Space or Arts Commission or a Town Council meeting to see your friends and neighbors speak their minds about what they want to be the heart and soul of our town. I support and freely participate in these activities.......and am very proud that they continue as strong as ever...
