Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Newhall Elementary School District

I have lived in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1991. My three children attended Newhall School District (NSD) schools their entire elementary school career; my two older boys are students at Hart High School; my youngest child is a 5th grader at Valencia Valley.

I have been on the Newhall School Board since 1997. My family has personally experienced all the changes our district has experienced, from multi-track to class size reduction to redistricting. As a parent in the district I have a personal stake and understanding in what takes place in our schools every day.

I have worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years and currently am an EVP and COO of a major publicly traded diversified financial services company.

I attended California public schools from elementary school through college, completing my educational studies with an MBA at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business.

I believe I bring to the board a unique combination of passion for public education, educational training, work experience and personal stake as a parent in the district. I am very proud of what we have accomplished in the last eight years in the Newhall School District and would like to serve four more years to insure the many changes and improvements we have made are fully embedded in the District's culture and process, and to further those improvements in the face of continued financial pressures, growth into Newhall Ranch, and constantly changing enrollment patterns in our District.
