Candidate Statement

By Christine LeBeau

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Westside Union Elementary School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I want Westside to continue to provide our children with an excellent education in a safe environment while being fiscally responsible with your money. The skill and knowledge I bring to the Westside School Board will help meet the challenge to provide superior education during the state budget crisis. I seek your support and ask for your vote.
During my twelve years on the Westside School Board, I promoted many positive changes. We constructed schools, gymnasiums, refurbished older schools, and developed a district wide curriculum. We provide internet access in all classrooms, accelerated reading and math programs, intersession schools for remedial students, after school tutoring, and extracurricular activities. When California unexpectedly imposed mid-year budget cuts, we worked with parents and staff to develop and implement budget reductions that kept Westside fiscally solvent. Currently we are forming partnerships with developers to build new schools necessary for our increasing enrollment. Working with parents, staff, and community we will continue to identify and address district needs and priorities.
