|
I was born in Hollywood, California to Francisco and Carmen Hidalgo. My mother was born in Mexico and grew up working as a migrant farm worker in the San Joaquin Valley. Through tough times she finished high school and went out to community college in the San Joaquin Valley. My father was born in El Paso, Texas but grew up in Los Angeles, Ca. He only spoke Spanish and faced many challenges growing up in East Los Angeles. Through hard work and dedication he went on to get his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Southern California. He is currently the Dean of Education at New Mexico Highlands University. Along with my three sisters and brother I was raised in Whittier, Ca. I attended Sorensen Elementary, Katherine Edwards Intermediate, and Pioneer High School. Following high school I went on to receive my B.A. in History from California State University, Fullerton. During college I worked as a fitness instructor at the YMCA, JV baseball coach, and as a youth leader for Youthfirst, a Christian youth group serving kids in the San Gabriel Valley. After college I became a Special Education teacher for the moderate to severely handicapped in Fontana. I currently teach world and United States history at AB Miller high school. I have coached basketball and softball. I am inspired by the hard work and sacrifice of my parents. With their love and support I have been able to accomplish my goals. They have paved the way and given me a path to strive for excellence. |
