Full Biography for Patricia Ann "Pat" Hanrion

Patricia Hanrion was born in New York, but has been a resident of Santa Clarita for over 22 years. She has been married to her husband Patrick for 36 years. They have five children, Patrick, Colleen, Rebecca, Megan and Michael. All children are graduates of the Wm. S. Hart Union High School District and have now begun successful careers. Patrick is an encryption security engineer for Microsoft, Colleen is an educator, and Rebecca is a news broadcaster for NBC. Megan has her own company, Rocky Mountain Research, and does environmental research for the Forestry and BLM, as well as wet lands delineation in the western United States, and Michael will soon begin his PHD program in Psychology at University of Washington. Pat and Pat have 10 grandchildren, with the oldest Jessika, a sophomore at Hart High School. They are active in their community and church. Patricia has participated in medical services for the Olympics since 1984 when the games were in Los Angeles. She also volunteers at the Deaf Olympics, and the Olympic Festival. She is active in the Mayor's committee for the Hiring of persons with disabilities, and has recently accepted a position on the Governor's committee. Church assignments involve welfare and emergency preparedness, and Patricia has worked closely with the Red Cross during earthquake and disaster training, and preparation. Patricia has been a registered nurse for 40 years, and received her BSN in public health and nursing from NYU, her minor was in theater arts. She graduated with honors, and is a member of the nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau. Patrick is a Superintendent of Construction for Turner Construction, on their Bio-pharmaceutical specialty team, and Patricia has been a Professor of Medical-Surgical and Maternal-Child Health for 5 years, teaching in the RN program at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita. Patricia is a 12 year member of the Hart board who brings the "mom" voice to the board. Often she will focus on health and safety issues that have not occurred to many of the administrators and other board members. Family integrity as well as health and safety are her main focus on the board. Cost effective construction management is another talent that Patricia brings to the board since she helped run her husband's construction company for eight years. Continuity of curriculum and equity among the schools is another issue of concern for Patricia and for many years she has devoted long hours to making sure all students have the same opportunities. Family friendly schools and parent involvement programs are another area of focus for Patricia. Both Pat and Pat are avid bikers, and enjoy trips on their tandem mountain bike weekends when not visiting with grandchildren. Patricia is also involved with the Santa Clarita Valley Light Opera Company, as producer and director of productions for family entertainment. Hobbies include, writing poetry, and adventure novels, sewing, and crochet for Patricia, while Patrick enjoys revolutionary war research and genealogy. |
