Candidate for Governing Board Member; Cerritos Community College District

Carmen Avalos humbly request your support on November 8th to elect her to the Cerritos Community College Board of Trustees.
Occupation: Municipal Clerk/ Educator Education: MA in Education, Administration

15 year resident of the Cerritos College District I have 4 wonderful children that attend local schools.

As a former educator/teacher of the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, it gave me true understanding of the educational challenges our youth and families are facing.

Carmen Avalos, will work to make Cerritos College responsive to the needs of the community by:

  • Providing fiscal responsibility and accountability to you, the taxpayer.

  • Ensuring the intergrity of the College by promoting the hiring and retentnion of quality employees

  • Promoting the hiring and spending of your tax dollars locally especially with the monies acquired from the recently passsed GO Bond measure.

  • Increasing the transfer rate to four-year universities

  • Partnering with area K-12 districts to promote higher education

  • Utilizing technology to create opportunities for all members of our community

  • Establishing the college as a resource center for community events/activities.

I am an advocate of higher education, a true believer in building strong and responsive leadership, and aaccess to higher education for everyone in our community.

A vote for Carmen Avalos as your Cerritos College Board of Trustees will ensure trust, integrity, and loyalty.
