Candidate for
City Council Member; City of Maywood

I believe in government for,of and by the people. Maywood is a one square mile city. Their is very little participation in city government,by the citizens of Maywood. I want to open government to the residents of the city-have the people be informed of the decisions of the City Council. Respect and Dignity.

I will push to have afterschool programs for the youth of our community. WE need to insure that our children do not drop out of High School.Parents need to be participate in the education of their children.

I will work to educate the citizens about Water Quality in Maywood. We are a small city but no one drinks the water. WE are guarenteed clean water- but we must spend double for water- one from the water Companies that serve the City (3) and we buy bottled water.

Enviromental Justice

Maywood is home to the PEMACO Superfund site, Fifth on the list of most contaminated sites, in the U.S. also we have various sources of contamination from stationary sources plus the 710 Freeway and fine particle pollution. I will work to develop a comprehensive solution in which the community is involved.

Lead contamination

Maywood has a high amount of lead contamination. I will strenghten efforts to educate the community about lead.
