ED TREUTING: CANDIDATE STATEMENT Emeryville needs proven, experienced and effective leaders that can work with city officials and citizens to improve our schools and fix traffic and housing problems. As a Planning Commissioner, school activist and neighborhood leader, I have demonstrated experience on issues that matter. I helped turn around Emeryville's struggling public schools by recalling the ineffective school board, and supported Measure A, providing funds for school revitalization. As a Planning Commissioner, I've fought to make sure that new housing meets the needs of ALL segments of our community, so that families, seniors and young professionals can all find homes here. I founded the Triangle Neighbors Group and served on numerous committees to strengthen community ties and improve our neighborhoods. As your voice on the City Council, I will fight for good schools, housing choices and more parks. My immediate goals include improving traffic by expanding Emery-Go-Round, increasing connectivity across town, and making sure developers pay their fair share for traffic improvements. I'm proud to have the support of State Senator Don Perata, Mayor Dick Kassis, Vice Mayor Gary Caffey, City Councilmember Nora Davis, and former School Board President Forrest Gee. |
