Political Philosophy for David B. "Dave" Duggan
Candidate for |

|
I will not enter into this office with a pre-conceived notion on where and how this project should be built and how it should be paid for. These decisions must be made with the full knowledge of the facts. I believe the pie in the sky promises that others have made and the braking of those promises has led this community into the plight we see it in now. I also believe that the concept of better, faster, cheaper was only a feel good slogan and not reality. I voted against this L.O.C.S.D. I believe the L.O.C.S.D. was not created to serve the community but to divide the community. The powers that be would only have to watch and wait as we wasted our time, money and efforts fighting each other thus letting the county off the hook from litigation and responsibility. Divide and conquer, turning friends and neighbors against each other. Higher authorities are poised to crush any new L.O.C.S.D. if it strays from the straight and narrow. There is very little wiggle room and if they see any attempt to circumvent the law or buck the system they will move quickly and decisively to remove the power of self-determination we now have. Remember there is more to this L.O.C.S.D. than just the W.W.P. We have seawater intrusion due to overdraft of our wells and the recharge of our aquifers is made even more difficult due to geological barriers. State water is being looked at as a cure to our water problems so we can accommodate build out. That will be the next big battle for our community. With the extension and modernization of the Montana de Oro State Park, the new skate park, the proposed build out and the other grand ideas this community has, all of us must be prepared to take advantage of the predicted economic boon. |
