|
Born in Hamilton County, Doug's family moved when he was in third grade to a small farm. Along with daily household chores, each child in the family was responsible for helping care for the various animals on the farm. Doug was in charge of the pigs. Growing up for several years on a farm helped Doug learn about responsibility at an early age. When his family moved back to Cincinnati when Doug was in eighth grade, he immediately got a job as a paper boy and has continued to work ever since. Today he works at Butler Tech as an online social studies instructor. Doug got his start in politics while in high school attending one of the first focus group meetings Rob Portman had in founding the Coalition for a Drug-Free Greater Cincinnati. Later Doug went on to serve as an intern for Congressman Portman. Doug has also worked for Congresswoman Barbara Cubin (R-WY) and Vice-Chair of the Republican Conference Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX). Growing up on a farm and working for these women with large rural constituents has given Doug insights into what issues are important to rural areas. Paying his own way through college Doug earned his BA from Xavier University in history and political science with a minor in secondary education certification. Doug has also earned his MA from the Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) at The George Washington University with a concentration in leadership. Learning and working with some of the foremost practitioners in the political field gives Doug the insight and ability to succeed in the Halls of Congress.
