Political Philosophy for Beth Gonzales
Candidate for |
Our community needs a trustworthy and effective representative- which is why I'm running for City Council. I'm a mother, teacher and community organizer who will ensure that our voices are heard at City Hall. My husband David and I have lived here for 30 years while raising our two children and grandson. I've been a public school teacher for 31 years - teaching at Foothill, Overfelt and Oak Grove High Schools. I'm proud to be the only candidate endorsed by former Mayor Susan Hammer. Over the years, we have worked together to empower diverse neighbors to stand up and fight for a better quality of life. I believe that a candidate's track record matters- and mine speaks for itself. As a former chair of the faith-based organization People Acting in Community Together (PACT), I collaborated with public officials to organize the community and secure millions of dollars in health care funding for children and families. I've also worked to reduce crime through anti-gang programs like BEST and Project Crackdown. My priorities are: good-paying jobs, safer streets, better schools, affordable housing and quality health care coverage for anyone who needs it. Thank you for visiting the Smart Voter website and I ask for your vote on June 7. - Beth Gonzales |
