Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Nelson Andrew Zager

Candidate for
Board Member; Redondo Beach Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

My personal beliefs are as follows:

1. There is no reason to continually cut our budgets of programs and people. There are numerous opportunities to increase our revenue/ income streams to the district. They are:

a. We have a GREAT 100 year old High School with GREAT alums. Nobody has asked them for estate planning, gifting opportunities or naming opportunities.
b. The Ed foundation that I am VP of, raised $100,000 this year (Helping to save the music program in our elementary schools). Ed foundations that I've researched raise over $1 million/ year for Education. With a few tweeks to our current programs, I believe we can successfully get our contributions to well over $300,000/ year.
c. Public/ Private opportunities of which I am currently working on that would give the district well over $100,000/yr
There are numerous other opportunites.

2. Emergency Prepardness- Currently we wouldn't know if our kids were ok with any kind of major disaster. Through technology we can change this.

3. Our kids are not exercising enough as well as not eating properly. Research now suggests that our children will live less years than their parents! We need to change this. We need to educate parents, our children, create programs like the "Human Bus" and many other programs that are available.
